CSC 401: DATA AND COMPUTER COMMUNICATIONS NETWORKS
Computer networking has enabled new and exciting applications and has transformed every aspect of business and commerce, education and scientific exploration, entertainment and social interactions, and government and military services. Nearly every one of us makes use of networking on a daily basis, often without a second thought about the details of operation. Consequently, the global Internet has become an infrastructure of importance equal to that of the power grid and the transportation system.
A principal goal of this course is to reveal the underlying principles of operation, and convince you that there is no "magic". In addition, the subject area serves to integrate a wide range of computer science (and electrical engineering) concepts, including coding, algorithms, distributed systems, mathematical performance analysis, fault tolerance, etc.
