SERVICE

"I am not an Athenian or a Greek, but a citizen of the world." -- Diogenis

I view the service component of the academic career as an opportunity to participate in, and shape, the operation and processes of the University, not as an obligation or burden. While it is common for new tenure-track faculty to be assigned a reduced load of service responsibilities, at least during their first years, I have been actively involved in both University affairs and external activities since the early stages of my career. I have served in many committees within the Department, College, and University, I have taught several extension and EOL courses, and I have also devoted a significant amount of my time in service to the research community.
